Our Offices

The Office for Research Administration's primary purpose is to support the Emory research enterprise. By providing excellent service and technical expertise in proposal development and support, sponsored programs administration, and compliance requirements; ORA facilitates research efforts across campus. The ORA responsibilities extend from helping researchers to identify funding opportunities, to negotiating contracts with external parties and financial administration for ongoing projects.

The Office of Research Development (ORD) coordinates university-wide research development and collaboration activities with an emphasis on scholarship that crosses multiple academic units. Working with other units, ORD provides support and programming to facilitate research partnerships, identify funding opportunities, form multidisciplinary collaborations, and, through the Training Grant Support Office (TGSO), pursue large training awards. ORD also coordinates and collaborates with multiple entities across Emory, including the Provost's Office and IT, to facilitate a university-wide research security plan and response to foreign influence.

The Research Business Operations Team supports Emory Research and all divisions within the Office of Research Administration in the areas of finance and budget, human resources, operations, and administrative services. Through a customer service focus, the team provides services and solutions that support sustainable and efficient use of all resources.

The Office of Technology Transfer works collaboratively with the Emory community and industry to build and nurture partnerships that effectively move ideas from the lab to the marketplace for the benefit of society. OTT provides assistance to research faculty by identifying, patenting, and licensing new technologies developed at Emory, and is available for consultation regarding faculty start-up companies.
