ADJUST Center

Research Impacts

  • Help develop and implement diagnostic technologies that are reliable, accessible, and affordable for members of all communities and economic backgrounds.
  • After 5 billion COVID-19 tests were produced, 49 authorized tests were FDA-cleared, 1st over-the-counter home-use COVID-19 test was manufactured, and over 100 organizations were supported, the Center for the Advancement of Diagnostics for a Just Society was born.
  • Generation of research papers, policy & position papers, and technology targets for Technology Foundry assay development projects.

Background

The ADJUST Center (Center for the Advancement of Diagnostics for a Just Society) is focused on developing and implementing accessible, reliable, and affordable diagnostic technologies to improve public health across all communities, especially under-resourced ones. Directed by Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD, and supported by Greg Damhorst, MD, PhD, and Julie Sullivan, the center has made significant contributions to the fight against COVID-19, producing over 5 billion tests, developing 49 FDA-cleared tests and launching the first over-the-counter home-use test. The ADJUST Center also generates research and policy papers and guides the development of technology projects to advance diagnostic capabilities in a just and equitable manner.

Mission/Vision

Accelerates the development, translation, and implementation of new technologies that enable the democratization of disease diagnosis, screening, and surveillance; andAddresses the societal challenges thereof via an interdisciplinary thinktank.

ADJUST's vision: We will become a national, multi-disciplinary hub that will change the very nature of where, when, and how disease is detected and monitored while also ensuring health equity and justice.
