Background
Science Gallery Atlanta (SGA) is a unique institution that combines art, science, and public engagement. It is the only U.S. member of the global Science Gallery Network. Situated in Metro Atlanta, SGA collaborates with researchers and artists to develop exhibits around thematic topics, integrating the latest scientific discoveries and artistic innovation. Led by Alexis R. Faust as Executive Director and supported by a Faculty Advisory Committee, SGA fosters interdisciplinary programming and faculty participation. Notable contributors include Deborah Watkins Bruner, whose work focuses on cancer treatment outcomes, and Judy Wawira Gichoya, whose expertise enhances the gallery’s initiatives. SGA’s partnerships, such as with the Hackney Lab, amplify its impact by hosting workshops and performances. Past collaborations, like the 2020 Science of Grief event with Science Galleries in Detroit and Dublin, highlight its commitment to addressing complex, human-centered themes through innovative, public-facing experiences.
Mission/Vision
The Science Gallery Network's mission is to ignite creativity and discovery where science and art collide, and they are committed to bringing science, art, technology and design together to deliver world-class educational and cultural experiences.
